Wet Wet Wet
Our first real holiday day dawned bright and sunny. No. It really did! From our bedroom we could lay in bed and watch the water and birds. Bliss.

Ian had already done coffee and fed the dog before I went downstairs to do the full English. Misty was waiting
The Mill
It wasn’t long before I felt the first pitted patter of tiny raindrops, I gathered my possessions and made a run for it. Not a moment too soon. As I reached the house it was lashing down.
We pottered, indoors, until around lunchtime when our visitors were due to arrive. Yes. Colette and Roland we’re coming over from Chippenham, and bringing their son with them. Alex had travelled from Bristol to Chippenham First Class, the whole 18 min journey, before getting a lift with his parents to the mill. I made a bit of a spread (thank you Mr Tesco), and before long they were huddled outside in the rain wondering if they had come to the right place. We invited them, and their cakes, in. Earlier Colette had asked if there was anything she could bring, apparently I was being impolite by saying, “yes, bring cake!”. They weren’t complaining when we got stuck into the delicious scones with jam and clotted cream, and date and walnut cake, that she had knocked up that morning.
We lingered for a while before deciding it wasn’t going to stop raining, then set off for a soggy walk, accompanied by all but Einar. It was a really wet, soggy walk, nevertheless we Mostly enjoyed it. Although when we found that a dishevelled Vicky, fresh from a night out out in Newark, had arrived we begged for a lift the last mile. Unfortunately she had removed her shoes so that was patently impossible. I then asked her to get the kettle on and make some coffee. The reply. “I don’t know where the kitchen is.”

The best bit about coming back, soaked, sore feet, tired, apart from seeing my lovely daughter, was the fabulous afternoon tea awaiting us, courtesy of Colette. I’m not impolite now am I!!!

Shortly we waved goodbye to Roland and Colette and I threw myself into making burgers for tea tea. After tea it was time for games. Luckily for me everyone else was practically comatose leaving me, and my alert brain to clean up with a stunning victory. Unluckily for me winner tidies up, and Ticket to Ride has a LOT of bits.
Ticket to Ride.
By the time I had tidied up, everyone had scooted off to bed. Wonder if they let me win! Avebury tomorrow. Wonder if it will rain?

It all looks so beautiful even in the rain.
